Our Story

Varsity Sk8 is the movement to make skateboarding a real school sport in NYC.

We started with a simple truth: when students roll together, they build a community. Skateboarding teaches resilience, ownership, and leadership — the same skills that turn a club into a team, and a team into a citywide culture. Varsity Sk8 exists to help schools launch clubs, give students a path to compete, and create an official high school sport that reflects the creativity of New York.

Our work is student-driven and school-aligned. We partner with educators, parents, and community supporters to make skate programs safe, structured, and celebrated — while keeping the energy, style, and freedom that make skateboarding a powerful force for youth.

From the Ground Up

Every club starts with a few students and a safe place to ride. We provide the roadmap, mentorship, and community connections to turn that spark into a structured program.

Who We Are

Youth leaders, coaches, and advocates.

Varsity Sk8 is a student-first collective building school-based skate programs with the support of educators and community partners.

What We Believe

Every student deserves a team.

Skateboarding is more than a sport — it’s belonging, discipline, and creative expression that can thrive inside schools.

Where We’re Going

Official teams, leagues, and championships.

Our goal is city and state recognition so every borough has access to competitive teams and safe, funded skate spaces.
