Youth-led mission

Varsity Sk8 turns street energy into school pride and citywide opportunity.

We exist to help New York City high school students bring skateboarding into the spotlight — with real clubs, real coaching, and real competition pathways. Varsity Sk8 builds the awareness, support, and structure so students can lead their own crews and turn them into official teams.

Parents, educators, administrators, and community supporters: we make it easier to greenlight skate programs that are safe, organized, and impactful. Together, we’re pushing for skateboarding to become a recognized city and state sport — powered by youth leadership and community belief.

Community first.

We connect skaters, schools, and neighborhoods so every student can belong to a safe, organized skate community.

Youth leadership

Students lead the charge.

We equip teen leaders with tools, mentorship, and a clear playbook to build teams from the ground up.

Opportunity

Clubs to competitions.

We help schools launch clubs that can grow into official teams and inter-school leagues.

Bigger vision

Skateboarding as a recognized sport.

By building a citywide network of school teams, we’re creating the momentum needed to make skateboarding an official sport in New York.

Start a club

Build a skate club at your school — step by step.

We keep it simple, so you can focus on getting your crew together. Follow these steps and we’ll back you with guidance, starter materials, and connections across NYC.

!

Starting is about momentum, not perfection. You only need a few motivated skaters to begin.

+

We help you craft a plan your school can approve — safe, organized, and student-led.

01

Find your crew

Talk to friends, classmates, and teammates. Aim for 5–10 students who want to skate and build something together.

02

Get a faculty advisor

Ask a teacher, counselor, or coach who supports student clubs to be your advisor. They help with school approvals.

03

Secure school approval

Submit your club idea with your advisor. We can provide sample bylaws, safety guidelines, and a mission template.

04

Create a meeting plan

Pick a weekly meeting time, a safe practice spot, and a simple agenda: skills, safety, and community.

05

Connect with Varsity Sk8

We’ll help you launch with outreach materials, club resources, and paths to citywide events. Once you’re ready, we’ll map the path to competition.
